Felting, the earliest form of textile making, is more than four thousand years old. It was first used for clothing and footwear as well as shelters and blankets. Although fibre art means different things to different people, the felted paintings below use a plethora of fibres: animal wools including those of camel, yak, llama as well as sheep, goats and rabbits; plant fibres including bamboo, coconut, corn, hemp, cotton, flax, silk and seaweed; as well as milk protein and silks.
